I am a qualified Equine Podiatrist. I did my training with and was personally put through my exams by KC LaPierre. I have other EP's as friends on FB, and I have been mentioned on KC's website. So my history can be checked through the internet.
There are some people trying to cash in on the EP market and calling themselves such, even though they have not attained the Diploma in Applied Equine Podiatry. At present there is nothing to stop them doing this in the UK, but I am sure this will change.
If someone is telling you they are an EP, check them out. Check their website, Facebook, friends lists, even google throws up a lot of information by itself.
Compare their work with other known qualified EP's work, is there a difference, is it inferior? Ask questions, when and where did they study, where did they do their practical exam, who were their class mates/colleagues? Ask other known EP's if they know of this one.
Please make sure you know exactly who is handling and trimming and advising on your equine.
Your equine cannot look after themselves, they are relying on you to make sure they are safe and in the best possible hands.
Can you bear the thought of their welfare being compromised for the sake of doing a few checks?
